Adjusting sound in XP?

Postby newguy » Sat Apr 15, 2006 1:58 pm

Well, I can't stand the volume of the Windows startup/shutdown,etc voice and sound effects. I tried adjusting the different areas in Control Panel (Speaker/sound settings) but none seem to control the sound effects/voice volume independently.

I have to lower the entire system volume. That 'Goodbye' voice blasting me in the ears is getting aggravating and I'd rather not have to raise the volume while listening to music then lower it when exiting AOL....that make sense?

Is there some option I'm missing here?

You could turn off the sound effects completely...should be an option in the Control Panel.

Or, you could actually delete the "goodbye" soundfile.
