It's the simulation machine, installed at the colocation facility. Dell 6650, quad 2.2 GHz Xeons, 8 GB RAM, dual 18G/10K SCSI drives. Gigabit connection to our backbone. Yeah, it's got a bit of horsepower for crunching numbers!

What box do you want? SQ or SPL? Neither. You want SQL, which is an entirely different thing. You want the box to quad and give lots of Hertz...

That is definitely quite a box. Those SCSI are pretty damn fast. I've got a 74GB 15K Cheetah myself and it screams, I couldn't imagine a pair SCSI's RAID'd together. SCSI was supposed to originally be pronounced "sexy" but it was rejected so "scuzzy" it is :)

Does anyone know of any software that would really put Dan's rig to the test? That's one hell of a rig!

Run 4 instances of Super Pi, one on each proc. It should get about the same scores.

And only 2 18G drives Dan? For shame! Where does it store process all the DEE BEEZ?

;) I only get 6 146GB 10K U320 drives to play with in my 2850s.

Best the home comp did was in the 50's @ 1M

Ran this on a comp in the lab used for crunching large amount of numbers, it actually made a large audible noise doing this :D... Don't know the hardware...don't know a ton about computers...One other program active

Ran these one right after another, the first three were zeros across the board...
