Thinking of getting a new bike...
I've had 13 bikes... Sold the last (900RR) a few years back...
I am leaning twards a new Buell 1125R..... I can get an 08' for about $10K with a 4 year warranty from the base dealer... Hmmm.. I dunno... Still a ****oad of money to me...

If you have 10k to toss away, toss it my way.
See, if you buy a bike, make sure you have time to ride it. I see a lot of folks who buy then, then they just sit in the garage.

I wish I had the money to pick up my buddy's salvaged bike a couple years ago. Suzuki SV650...could have picked it up for about $1200 with <150 miles on it. Buddy was sitting still and a lady hit him. Broken handlebar, turn signal, and scratched fairings...Bike was almost $7k new, and he only had the bike for a couple weeks.
Have you thought about a wrecked bike?
Eric

I have rebuilt 2 wrecked bikes, a 05' ZX10 and a 99' Buell Thunderbolt.... I would do something like this again if the deal came up... A guy had an R1 (05' I think) that needed a whole new front end (all the plastic and forks) and he wanted $3k.... Dude was nuts... People just want too much for their ****... And then there was also a real nice RC51 for sale here also, but the guy wanted $500 over KBB retail... WTF????
I would take a used TL1000R in heart beat (SV650 just a little too small for me)... I had a TL back in 01' for a month.... A yellow one.... I totalled it, lol.... It was very nice...
I dunno, I have been riding since 1994, I have aver 100K miles on bikes, I have ridden everywhere (year round) except here in Germany... I really am getting the itch...
We'll see how it pans out...

I bought my 954RR new, but it was the previous year model. Picked it up from a dealer on ebay for $7600.
Put 5000 miles on it and sold it for $6800.

I am trying to close the deal on a 2004 CBR1000RR.
It has 7K on it, not a scratch and comes with an m4 carbon fiber exhaust and swing-arm stand.
We agreed on $5500, seems resonable to me... Guy I am buying it from is just a little slow at getting things done in general though... It has taken him 2 days to get the paperwork together, then we both have to go to the US forces registration office together to get everything signed over. I have a feeling this will take a few days at least.... I wanted to be riding by this weekend, but I don't think it is going to happen.
I also picked up a used (well, actually never worn) AGV full set of leathers that were $650 originally for $200 from a guy in the local paper... Pretty sweet deal really...

Well, I bought an 05' R1 yesterday..... $5K, needs a little cosmetic work, but other than that.... ****er wheelies in 2nd gear off the throttle.... 170+ Hp.... Only has 8K miles on it...
Went with what I know best, Japanese bikes...

I have over 40K miles on my 04' GSXR 750. Just can't seem to want to "upgrade". This thing does everything I ask of it, and more. Ohlins 25mm cartridge fork, Ohlins shock with remote preload, Ti headers from GSXR 1000, LOR carbon can, Hyperpro damper, Proton signals, braided lines, Valtermoto rear sets, etc. We've been to the Ozarks about 8 times (~2400 miles in 3 or 4 days), North Georgia mountains about 5 times (made the return trip solo in 17 hours...that sucked).
Here's some Arkansas footage - I'm one of the bikes with cameras mounted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fw1byo3q-u8
Good times.
Can't go wrong with the Yammi. Congrats.
